(Beijing, April 18) In the men's team foil semifinals of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 FIE World Championships, Italy trounced Poland 45-38 to enter the final.

Italy finished the first bout 5-4, the second 10-8 and the third 15-13, maintaining its lead 25-21 after the fifth and widening the gap to 7 hits (30-23) after the sixth. In the following bouts the Italians were unstoppable and finally eliminated Poland by 7 hits to advance to the final.

In the other semifinal match, Germany grabbed a narrow 43-41 win over Russia to make the next round.

The gold-medal match for the men's team foil will be contested between Italy and Germany at the Fencing Hall of the National Conference Center this evening.
